1. Boil 2 cups water, 2 cups raisins, 1 cup molasses, 1 cup sugar, and 2/3 cup shortening. Let the mixture cool.
2. Sift together 3 cups flour, 1 tsp. baking soda, and 3 tsp. cinnamon. Add this to the cooled mixture.
3. Pour the batter into a greased tube pan and bake at 350°F for 1 hour.
