Tater Tot Casserole Recipe

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and diced onion over medium-high heat until the beef is browned and the onion is softened. Drain any excess grease from the skillet.
In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked ground beef mixture with the condensed cream of mushroom soup, milk, and 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Mix until well combined.
Spread the ground beef mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer over the top of the ground beef mixture.
Bake the casserole in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the baked casserole. Return the casserole to the oven for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Once done, remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Optionally, garnish the Tater Tot Casserole with chopped green onions, diced tomatoes, and sour cream before serving.
