Grandma’s Old-Fashioned Bread Pudding with Vanilla Sauce


1. Prepare Pudding:
– Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
– In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread and raisins.

2. Prepare Milk Mixture:
– In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the milk and 1/4 cup of butter.
– Cook until the butter is melted, about 4 to 7 minutes.
– Pour the milk mixture over the bread and raisins. Let it stand for 10 minutes.

3. Mix Pudding Ingredients:
– After the bread has soaked, stir in the sugar, beaten eggs, vanilla extract, and ground nutmeg until well combined.

4. Bake:
– Grease a 1 1/2-quart casserole dish and pour the bread pudding mixture into it.
– Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, or until the pudding is set in the center.
